"My credo is simple and changeable. I may not change radically but if I wish to I hae no preconceived theories to hold me back. I feel that theories tend to make an artist academic no matter how advanced and radical these theories may appear to be at the present time. My paintings at various times have been termed cubist, surrealist, realist, neo-romanticist, and even Oriental, but at no time did I ever follow any school.
