Description:
The rectangular form with an undulating superstructure in fruitwood, inlaid with a scene of various species of trees by a mountain lake, over a conforming case with three frieze drawers over a writing surface, raised on squared tapering legs. The desk signed EM on the inlaid superstructure. Together with a marquetry inlaid armchair, the curving backsplat carved with foliate designs centering a backsplat inlaid with a calla lily and cattails, with shaped arms over a teardrop upholstered seat, raised on squared legs ending in casters.

Condition:
Some roughness to board at back of pigeonhole on right. Loosening of support at joint of small drawer support right. Some shrinkage overall. Light water stain from plant on superstructure left side. Small gouge at left front. Wear consistent with age and use. Chair with repairs to back splat. Missing back leg chair caster.
