Jan Jacob Schenkel was a 19th century Dutch painter whose oeuvre specialized mainly in church interiors.

Schenkel was taught by history and figure painters Valentijn Bing and Jan Braet von Uberfeldt. He not only painted church interiors but townscapes, as well. From 1851 to his death, Schenkel regularly exhibited his work, including an annual show, the Exhibition of Dutch Living Masters, which was held in Rotterdam, The Hague and Amsterdam.

Schenkel lived and worked in Amsterdam.
