Dorothy S. Harkins was a Cleveland based artist and educator. She studied at Western Reserve and the Art School, as well as working privately with many artists. For 15 years, Harkins taught at the Shaker Heights Adult Recreation program and the Moreland School.
Known for textiles and sculpture, Harkins exhibited in over 15 May Shows, an annual juried exhibition of works of Northeast Ohio artists at the Cleveland Museum of Art, between the years 1946-63.
Exhibitions: Cleveland Art Museum, Ceramic National at the Syracuse Museum of Fine Arts, Ceramic Traveling Exhibit, Butler Institute, Columbus Museums and the American Crayon for the National Art Education Association.
