Catherine J. Barnes was a painter, illustrator, designer and teacher. Born in 1918 in Philadelphia, PA and later in life lived in Mantua NJ. She studied at The Philadelphia Museum School of Art and The Art Student's League, NYC, where she was a pupil of Eliot O'Hara. She exhibited at The Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art in 1940-41, and in the annual watercolor shows held there in 1937-38. She illustrated children's books, including The Infant of Prague, Saints for Girls, The Night Before Christmas, and Cinderella, as well as providing illustrations for national travel and fashion magazines and Christmas cards.
